FAQs > Our Kids > What type of child does YouthBASE accept?

There are two main criteria for acceptance into our program:

  1. Academic Need: We accept children who are below grade level and have been identified as needing more individualized academic support. 2011-12 school year we began targeting K5-1st graders who have had little or no preschool readiness.
  2. Environmental Root of Behavioral Difficulty: We accept children who have behavioral difficulty that is primarily environmentally-based. Specifically, we look for children who's behavioral difficulty is primarily related to a home situation, neighborhood influence, peer influence, or other environmental condition.
